The Nilotic Languages Community houses archival and documentary materials for all Nilotic-family languages spoken in Kenya. Nilotic languages belong to the Eastern Sudanic branch of the Nilo-Saharan phylum and are spoken predominantly across the Rift Valley, western Kenya, the lake basin, and stretches of the northern arid frontier.
Nilotic languages in Kenya are characterised by complex nominal case systems (especially in Southern Nilotic), and the Kalenjin cluster is particularly noted for its elaborate age-set vocabulary and initiatory secret registers.
